That is a good point. Controversial topics draw the clicks and views, that's for sure. And if the media coverage was the reason the obnoxious, angry people on this thread were so upset, I don't think the discussion here would have devolved to the extent it has. I think most reasonable people can agree that the outrage machine is out of control.

We in Canada pay a “carbon tax”.

That’s right, we pay tax on the stuff we exhale and the stuff that keeps plants alive.

Our local carbon tax will increase April 1st, after several previous increases.

I'm not sure that's true. There was a Rasmussen poll a few years back which showed that ~60% of Americans viewed Jackie Robinson favorably, 4% didn't like him, and 36% didn't know who he was. That's a 9 to 1 ratio of the population that doesn't know who he is vs those who don't like him. If statues are stolen at random by people who either have no clue who he was or who despise him, and never stolen by those who look up to him, then the odds were pretty heavily in favor of the theft having nothing to do with race.
