Default Brooks Robinson minor league pin

Day 21 – 21 January 2024
It is always fun finding things from Brooks’ minor league days. Below is an example of his time in York, PA with the White Roses. I believe this pin is from his 1955 season. The other pin is from 1960 Fox Cities Foxes, which was Boog’s 2nd year in professional baseball.

Default Brooks Robinson pins and buttons

Day 22 – 22 January 2024
Finally, my last pin / button day ends with a bang. I have consolidated all of my Brooks pins / buttons. You will see the 1959 PM10, 1969 MLB, his hall of fame button, small 1969 MLB red pin, #5Brooks pin, some reprints, and his hall of fame 1983 pin and charm with Alston, Kell, Marichal and Brooks. Hope you enjoyed the pins and buttons.

Default 1963 Jello original artwork

I know an unopened box of 1963 Jello with a Brooks Robinson card on the back recently sold. While that may be the only one known unopened of all the thousands of Brooks boxes that were produced, here is a true 1 of 1.

Shown for your viewing pleasure is an original Jello camera ready production art for the Jello baseball set with the Brooks Robinson. I have similar ones for Post Baseball as well

Wording from an old auction listing says:

Phenomenal one-of-a-kind copy art poster board lay-outs used in the production of the 1963 JELL-O gelatin baseball card promotion. Each illustration board is impeccably preserved in the original hard cover folio and identifies the gelatin package(s) on which each card is to appear, while the paste-up sheets reflect General Foods art department proofing notations. Each illustration board and individual card lay-out is oversized in comparison to standard box panel and card dimensions, measuring approximately 5" X 3?."

Unlike the 1963 Post cereal poster board lay-outs, the JELL-O mock-ups are aligned in 2 columns of 4 cards (total of 😎 for the 3 ounce packages, and 3 columns of 3 cards (total of 9) for the 6 ounce packages. These illustration boards were then sent to rotogravure printers to produce the plates that ultimately yielded the individual JELL-O packages on the grocer's shelf. Original Kodachrome prints of players appearing in the set, which feature the photography of Art Shay. Advanced collectors will also marvel at the photograph variations attendant to cropping of the prints and placement of the photos within the overlay sheets.

Default 1963 Brooks Robinson Bazooka

Day 23 – 23 January 2024
For the next several days I will discuss and show the different years Bazooka included Brooks Robinson on their “boxes.” I know the Bazooka’s have been discussed here before but I have added a few and thought the conversation would be fun and some of you might have some variations and proofs to show. First up is 1963. This was the first year Brooks appeared on a box with Bazooka. The previous years (1959, 1960, 1961 and 1962) did not include Brooks. Below is the 1963 complete box with White and Herbert, panel and hand cut card. Bazooka published 12 different 3 player boxes in 1963. The panel and hand cut card are easier to find than the box but generally, these are tough to come across given the player collectors and the bazooka collectors. The box is almost impossible to find.

Basically about the only thing I have regarding the '63 Bazooka.

Default 1964 Brooks Robinson Bazooka

Day 24 – 24 January 2024
Brooks again appeared on the 1964 Bazooka Box. Like the 1963 box, this box is impossible to find. I found this one with the 1964 sticker inserts affixed to the back of the box and had to carefully remove them before PSA would grade the box. Bazooka made 12 x 3 player boxes in 1964. Below is the Complete Box with Ellsworth and Herbert, Panel and hand cut card. Additionally, unique to 1964, Bazooka not only included gum but they included 10 stamps. These stamps came in 10 player panels. Brooks appears on the #3 panel with Yaz and Clemente. Today, I am showing the 10 player panel, single stamp and two player panel with Pepitone. Finding the single stamp is easy and affordable. The 10 player panel is very hard to find and expensive.

I’ve only have seen a couple of these layouts over the years. The one pictured is very cool. Thanks for sharing this one of a kind item.
