Default star autographs

Can't help but respond to the flurry of "can you help identify the signature?" autograph posts. Pet peeve but if you're signing an autograph, make an effort. Take a look at autographs of players long past and to a man, those are all done with some pride, all legible and some even beautiful. Like Charley Gehringer, for example. Clearly took some pleasure in signing for a fan.

Once at a tennis event we sponsored, Maria Sharapova came out for the masses and signed. No eye contact, no engagement whatsoever and just slopped through an illegible signature. I've seen better echocardiagrams. I was so tempted to say "come on, sign it right. I might give that to a kid who cares and plays tennis." But you can't very well do that with the Division President standing near you. Still wish I'd done it, though.

Bonds signed this for me outside the team hotel in STL in '87 or '88 for comparison.
