If an item was "misappropriated" from the BB HOF, then that would make the BB HOF the owner of the item and if they have the proof/provenance it is theirs, then they could demand to have the item returned. Is that correct?
If the BB HOF can prove an item was removed from their archives without permission and found the item for auction, then an assumption is that the AH would be responsible for making all parties whole (the assumption being the AH had no idea/knowledge the item for auction was not actually the consignors to sell). Just curious, if the BB HOF requested that the AH return the item to them, then is the AH obligated to do so or would they return it to the consignor?
