I am astounded at the incredible talents of Buster Keaton (October 4, 1895 – February 1, 1966). He was also a very popular actor, comedian, and director.
Buster was truly the ultimate film stunt man in the 1920's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buster_Keaton Does he have cards (or memorabilia)? If so that would be cool to see. ![]() [ ![]() ] Last edited by Leon; 10-31-2023 at 09:02 PM. |

I think the stunts he pulled off on film still have the power to amaze just about every non-jaded person. A couple things to share from the internet:

Check the vintage non-sports sister site here. I’m sure there’s tons of info on Keaton cards there.

I bought this newspaper sketch of him forever ago. It was drawn by Hardie Gramatky, a pretty accomplished watercolorist who also wrote and illustrated the classic children's book Little Toot:

There are 32 cards for Buster Keaton listed. I am 100% positive there are more out there, from UK cigarette cards to Uruguay candy cards to Japanese Menko. I have a bunch of silent film comedy star cards, and a few Keatons, so I know they are out there and can be had for less than Chaplinesque money. Good hunting!!!

Buster Keaton was good, but Harold Lloyd was even better. Lloyd was the undispute number 1 of the top 3 actors of the day ( the other 2 were Keaton and Charlie Chaplin). Lloyd is forgotten because he ( Lloyd ) refused to have his films shown on TV.

He was amazing, his stunt-work was great! I do love Keaton and Chaplin as well but Harold Lloyd will always be #1

Some of the stunt work back then was just crazy.
I'm a Harold Lloyd fan too. I'm a bit of a 3D geek (have several cameras, viewers, projectors and over 3000 stereoviews). Harold Lloyd's granddauther was a keynote speaker at 3D-Con 2020 and presented a program showing some of his home movies and unseen photos from his archive. He was a founding member and first president of the Hollywood Stereoscopic Society and took more than 250,000 stereo images. A few years ago I bought a lot of 10 Lloyd pics which included one with Babe Ruth from the film Speedy. Always love crossover items that fit multiple collections of mine. (apologies for thread jumping) I absolutely appreciate Keaton, but fell in love with Harold Lloyd movies as a kid. I have a Lloyd collection and pick up his cards whenever I see them at a good price. As all collectors, I have several different ones and Christmas ornaments are a big one as I have several thousand (we put up several trees in different rooms at the holidays). For the millennium Radko had a wonderful large Lloyd ornament which always has a prominent place on a tree for me of the famous clock stunt. ![]()

I would estimate that there are at least 200 different Buster Keaton cards around, probably more than that. Here are a couple of my favorites.
