As I recall, the patriarch died in 1917 and the son in 1920, leaving one of the adult grandchildren to operate the business but with the estate and/or other related issues leaving Herpolsheimer in a state of flux. This might explain that the 1921 issue was not a high priority to the department store’s plans or that family members disagreed on its use for marketing purposes.
