I just heard on the pregame that since 2010, HALF the teams in baseball (I guess that's 15) have been in a World Series. If you're looking for parity, I'd say that's it!

I'll counter that with of the Rangers 9 Playoff wins this Postseason, only 1 has come at home.

That's 15 out of 28 possible teams so a fair amount of repeat teams. It would be interesting to know how that compares to other periods of the same length.

I'm more impressed by the number of winners since 2001. 15 different teams have been WS champs. Even Houston and LAD who have been dominant the last 7 years haven't been able to slow down the turnover. And in 2000, who would have said over the next 20 years, the best teams would be Boston, SF, and Houston? Not the teams I would have picked. 20231027_210220.jpg

![]() What I meant was there have been 28 possible slots for teams that could have appeared in the World Series since 2010 (14 Series), and of those 28, there have apparently been only 15 teams so a lot of repeats. |

Where's the Mets...
They are at the bankers' offices. Takes a bunch of money to over-pay players that are supposed to get them deep into the playoffs, but then don't play well enough; all while also paying Bobby Bonilla 1.19 million dollars on July 1st (good news there is that there's only 12 more years that they have to do that). The Giants were strong for a 5 or 6 year stretch there, winning it all 3 times. I didn't see that coming back in 2001. Last edited by FrankWakefield; 10-28-2023 at 08:09 AM. |

Wow, that really is amazing: over four years, all different teams in the series, with no repeats--8 slots, 8 different teams. Similarly, in the 1980s, if memory serves correctly, there was a different AL pennant-winner every year over eight straight seasons with no repeats during that time--8 slots, 8 different teams. That blew my mind then, and still does.

After the 2000 season, imagine if you had asked a Yankees fan:
Over the next quarter century or so, can you imagine the Yankees only winning the World Series once and the Red Sox winning four championships? I wonder what they would have said?

Could Yankee fans have anticipated how little George's kids would care about winning?

My son who was born in 2010 has not yet had to witness the Yankees, Cowboys, Celtics, or Candiens winning a championship. What a time to be alive!

The good news for Yankees fans is simply this: the Red Sox (or whoever) can win the World Series every freaking year from next year until I'm dead and gone, and it won't matter, because they still won't catch up to them. So, who cares how the Yankees do.

I’d be exceptionally cool with the Yankees never winning again. Sounds like you are too!
