Without any…let me rephrase…with very few tobacco cards issued of the Flying Dutchman, you can see that this thread is much more devoid of cards versus the Ty Cobb thread.
I would think that the dearth of cards available of Hans probably accounts for his relatively higher prices. I know that Wagner is a glaring hole in my “rookie” collection. I’m still holding out for an affordable NCP or M101-1.

Derek:
Affordable used to mean $10K. Nowadays mid 5-figures. I'm still looking for one of those as well. I used to have 2 M101-1's at different times as well as an 1896 Paterson team photo button issued by Whitehead & Hoag. Last edited by bcbgcbrcb; 10-11-2023 at 08:12 AM. |

Not 100% sure but I believe they don’t fit inside their largest holder. The Delahanty was probably trimmed down to where it would fit, hence the “A” grade.

At that price point for the M101-1, I might have instead opted for the National Copper Plate that’s potentially a year older and has been sitting on eBay for years now. Listed for $75,000 as a BIN o/b/o. I would imagine that there is a good chance that $50K would do it. Looks very clean to me as well. I don’t know the seller personally but not sure how much faith I would have spending that kind of money there.

Not easy getting Washington into this thread, but I do have the Dutchman at the 1933 World Series.

The M101-1 was definitely included with the August 19,1899 issue of The Sporting News. |
