Hey John,

Not much to add other than I agree the 1929 release date for these is likely accurate, like you said, due to the team changes and dates involved. But, I really just wanted to say that these are awesome examples! I've never seen these backs before on W560.

One thought I had was printer of this had a quantity of them on hand unsold, and was able convince show promotion people to use these by running a quantity of promotional back print raffle entries to give to young boy so they would convince their moms to go to Pure Food Show. Seems like a win win for the printer.

Anyone else have or ever remember seeing a W560 with a promotional back ad?

I’ve been watching w560 cards for about 10 months - as yet I’ve found out no more examples of an ad back card or info only the event Pure Food Show.

Anyone have knowledge of this issue with add back?

John, yours are the only W560 cards with anything but a blank back that I have seen (while casually checking W560's over the decades). Great find...I missed this thread previously.

My guess is the Newark Centre Market had a whole mess of W560 strips hanging around and they thought that adding advertising to the backs would be a great way to attract attention to their event. Definitely falls within the updated 1929 or later time frame for these cards.

Brian

I recently stumbled upon two Newark Centre Market W560s via eBay - one being Lloyd Waner (red queen of diamonds with black and white photo) and the other Thomas Thevenow (pink with red photo). Has any more been learned about that particular version?

Has anyone tried grading any of them? Was curious if they would be classified as marked and only authenticated.

Erocmace - Thanks for posting about these 2 advertising backs. They are the only other ones I seen or heard about. I’m not a person to send cards in to get graded.

Not my card below but shown to get further confirmation on w560 advertisement backs.
