This is the item that I've most wanted to add to my collection for the longest time. There always seems to be one available on eBay, and this time a really nice one appeared.

I never realized the Spic and Span pieces referred to a dry cleaner, and NOT the household cleaning product we all know. Guess that's the one new thing I'll learn today.
Cool card!!!!!

It had been a while since I visited LCS #2 (LCS #1 is right under my nose) so I did today, and returned with this bounty.
The SGC 3 isn't the nicest '65 Mantle I've ever owned, but it's far better than the worst - which was my first Mantle base card as a kid in the late 1980's. I traded the neighbor kid a much nicer '66 Koufax for a '65 Mantle that had been dropped either in a toilet, or the NC lake in front of which both of our houses sat. It was so waterlogged still in the toploader, that had I attempted to remove it - it likely would have disintegrated. While this one is no doubt much nicer, the fact that it's not a PSA 8 or something equally ridiculous somehow reminds me of that original '65 Mick, which is long gone at this point, traded along to someone else who now escapes memory - probably some 35 or more years ago. The rest here you see often enough, although not sure why I keep buying '72 Benches - this is at least # 3: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
