Have a local friend or board member pick it up in person after you pay and they can forward to you. I have had one or two do this for me in the past when shipping with these types of third party shipping operations.

If I bought a $300,000 Ruth or Manyle card I'd be fine with that and would prefer it. But for cards at that price point it's stupid high.

I have purchased from Hindman a few times and learned very quickly that their shipping charges are about 3 to 5 times the "normal" rate - if not more for larger / heavier items. Their third-party shipper options charge the same if not more usually.
Expect to pay a minimum of $25 to ship a single graded PSA card (no matter the value). Needless to say, I factor in the high-shipping charges along with their 26% buyer's premium while bidding with them - if I bother to bid at all with them now. You have to wonder how they get consignments with their high seller fees (seen 25% commission quoted a few places online) and high buyer fees. And they provide no assessment of condition unless it is a professionally graded item. |

There are some places that I guess I'm glad I have never heard of.

I purchased just over $1300 my shipping total was $85.00 seems really high when you could put in a flat rate box with insurance for $28 but what are you going do.

I would definitely do this if 1) I know someone I trusted in the area and 2) knew it wouldn't be much of an inconvenience for them. As a follow up I asked if there were any other shipping options. The response I got back today was "Due to the overall value of your invoice, the items must be shipped overnight for a safe and secure transit. Let me know how you wish to proceed." sigh. On a positive note, the terms indicated a 26% BP but they only charged me 20% so that helps.

I won a lot that had a 16 x 20 photo, 3 books, a small piece of wood and around 15 signed photos. The total lot cost $160 and change. I was quoted $113 for shipping. That is the most outrageous shipping quote I have ever received in 25 plus years buying at auctions. I emailed the head of shipping asking for alternatives because I am certainly not paying over $100 for a lot that could be shipped by priority mail for less than $25.
