Hey Jim- thanks for sharing these pics. I've heard Mark say that there used to be more things like this that came up for sale (although they clearly were not cheap). It's nice to see them.

Where’s your latest pickup? Don’t worry…I’m over it.

I'm assuming you mean this one. It's maybe 2/3 size? Or a bit less. Held together with staples.

It’s been on my wantlist for years. A big time Tacoma collector told me I’d have to “back up the Brinks truck” to get his. I told him I would never do that. It doesn’t have a ton of what JR would call “eye appeal.” That said, I would have been all over it if I had seen it before Marc. Good get; very rare.

Someone did that for me some time ago but it was too blurry. I will also DM you if email is easier.

Thanks for pics!

Santa Clara's main rival, obtained in a trade. I could never own a Dodgers pennant. Or an Auburn pennant (my grad degree is from Alabama). But for some reason I'm ok with this. I particularly like the blue one.

You’re out of control! I own 3 non-Giants pennants - 2 Ohio University; one Lotte Orions.

As always, I like the way you photograph your pennants

Default Just arrived in the mail

I can't compete with Greg, but I am real happy with this pickup I just got in the mail. Oldest one I have to date. Condition is well loved, but intact other than the point.

Randy this is actually very rare, the way “Yankee Stadium” is written. Very cool!

Greg, if I'm not mistaken these pennants were hung around the room at the 1925 pennant-winning banquet in D.C., though it could have been the version with WaJo. In either case, the photo of the banquet is included as a double-page panorama in the 1925 Washington World Series program, which I don't have a copy of handy.

That’s great info Hank, thank you. I have a less detailed photo and although it isn’t clear it kinda looks like the baseball graphic is sans Walter … I think the stronger evidence is the placement of the date underneath the baseball (there’s a noticeable gap, unlike the WJ version).

So it's the 1924 banquet, where the pennants are already anointing them "Champions" prematurely. Perhaps they filled in the circle with WaJo for sale at the ballpark during the series, though one would think more than one of those would have survived if that's the case. And this is the picture that was included in the 1925 program, oddly.

Another oddity is that the seams of the baseball are different on the plain and WJ version. Mine has ‘em horizontal and the Walter version has them vertical.

The WJ version, if I recall, went for more than $10K. It’s a real beauty.

What eye candy those Washington world series pennants are to a D.C. guy like me! And what incredible rarities, with one or two examples of each known, the mind boggles! I'm guessing all those from catalogs came from Kent Feddeman's collection as auctioned off by Legendary about ten years ago. Amazing to see them all pictured here, thanks much to those posting these beauties.
