My dad could not stand Wilmer. Not sure why but I remember attending two games with Dad when Wilmer pitched and he grumbled the entire game. Wilmer was a decent pitcher and a conservative elected after baseball to Congress in North Carolina. His 53 Bowman card does look like he may be emerging from the Dark Side

Had only 18 Home Runs but 3 came in one game. Ted Williams hired him as a bull pen coach to help him qualify for a MLB pension
