I hate to see ANY hobby shop, or business, close due to lack of patronage. I wish we still had hobby shops everywhere. I enjoyed walking in, chatting, buying a few cards and participating in "pack wars". Those days are gone and won't return.

As far as Deans or any other small business enterprise the answer is simple:

If you don't like the price of their item - don't buy it!

If you don't like what they offer to buy your card (which we always think is a high dollar item) - don't sell it!

Don't piss and moan about because you can't buy a card at the price you want. Thank them for their time and move on.

I have never heard or read anywhere that Deans Cares has cheated them out of a penny.

And the exact same thing should work in reverse. If a seller/dealer puts up an item and calls for offers, I get tired of hearing about the moaning and bitching that they are getting lowballed, having their time wasted, and then as a result just go and ban people on Ebay or some other site from ever bidding on their items again for having the audacity to insult them that way.

I personally don't care what VCP, Ebay's sales history, or any other sites or sources say or show supposed current FMV of an item is. That BS fallacy is a mark of dealers and sellers who only want to make as much money as possible, and don't ever want to face another undeniable fact, prices can, and do sometimes, also go down. Our cards are not commodities, and demand and supply can, and does, vary widely based on a multitude of constantly changing factors. I have no qualms with any dealers selling items for as much as they can. It is their item, and they can list and sell it for whatever they want. If I think their prices are more than they're worth, I just simply not buy anything from them and move on. But then if someone lists something I'm interested in and takes offers, I'll offer what I think it is worth TO ME! Not what someone else says or thinks, and certainly not on some things like past Ebay or other sales, where market manipulation and fraud can also easily be occurring. We've had threads on here talking about how many prices have been coming down since the height of the pandemic, especially in regard to the modern card market. So who ever said, and guaranteed, that the cost to replace a card or item is always going to be going up? See the fallacy and BS?

It has oftentimes been stated how most collectors usually think their items are worth more than they really are. Well, dealers and sellers aren't somehow special, more intelligent, and any different when it comes to determining what something they're trying to sell is actually worth. I've heard/seen some of the smug and sarcastic comments made by others on this forum about smart-assed, know-it-all customers arguing with them about how they know what this or that really is, and what it is worth, and so on. Such people should go look in a mirror sometime. It is funny how for people like that it is always the person on the other side of the table that doesn't know what they're talking about and is wrong.

The only thing that is absolutely, 100% true, all of the time is - something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay you for it! PERIOD! And if on a particular day, at a particular show or on a particular sales/auction site, if all someone will be willing to offer a dealer/seller for an item is half of what they want for it, then half is all it is really worth..............until maybe the next day when someone else comes along and offers a different amount.................and maybe even a lesser one.
