Always loved Pepper Martin, a colorful part of baseball history and a lifer in the game. Public adulation and interest in Pepper really seemed to subside over the years. At least, you don't hear much reference to him now. His name was brought up far more frequently--even past his playing days--when he was still alive.

The amazing thing about this whole deal is that someone could actually base a business with a storefront that only CLEANED HATS! it was a different time....

Great stuff! The Wild Horse of the Osage, he ran wild in that World Series.

Game 7 of the 1931 World Series was on October 10th... It would have been in the last 3 weeks of October, I think. Not September.

Default Love it!

I love the research and write up! Newspapers.com and Genealogybank.com are great resources to find photos and write ups of players and ads for cards and collectibles. These are great resources along with SABR and a uniforms resource, dressedtothenines.com.

Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Great detective work. And as a Stooge-phile, I learned something new---I had no idea that Shemp was still touring with Moe and Larry as late as 1931!

Jason it seems Dressedtothenines.com no longer exists and redirects to a clothing brand. I actually used https://mlbcollectors.com/MLBjerseyindex.php

Which is a great resource!

As one of the articles stated the tour started 3 weeks after the last series game.

I guess maybe it could've been late October but the chances are slim!
