At this point, 20 years after early GAI, and in a really tight grading phase anyhow, the atmospherics may not be good. You may be better off cracking out and submitting raw.

0-2 with GAI. Both first graded and both were likely trimmed so PSA didn't grade them.

Default GAI Crossover

I decided to crack my GAI graded cards out of the cases and then submitted to PSA for grading. All came back with a numerical grade that was close to the GAI grade given years before.

53 Topps Paige was GAI 3.5 became PSA 3
55 Topps Mays was GAI 3 became PSA 3
55 Bowman Aaron GAI 4 became PSA 3
58 Topps Clemente GAI 4 became PSA 3

Default I Wrote About This in 2020

I wrote about this exact experience two years ago in one of my columns. You can go to www.markearzoumanian.com. Then click on "Love of the Hobby" and when you scroll through the columns you will find one that covers this subject from November 2020. It's called: Converting GAIs to PSAs: Lessons Learned.
Yes, I know I am biased BUT I think it is worth reading! Take care and glad to share. Peace.

I cracked and submitted an early graded GAI T206 McGraw. It was a GAI 6.5 and got a PSA 5.5. I was happy with that. I also have a number of T206 1st graded which I have not submitted yet. I believe they are likely trimmed.

You will consistently find that cards cracked out and submitted to PSA are fine and will grade very similarly. At worst, just a number grade or two less than with GAI, since PSA has become stricter as of late.

Cards submitted still in their GAI Holders will not fare so well, as PSA's bias knows no limits. Easy lesson to be learned here... crack them out if you feel the need to submit to PSA.
