#85 Solly Hemus There is a story that when Solly was traded from the Cardinals, he wrote a heartfelt letter to Gussie Bush, then owner of the franchise. Essentially, Hemus thanked Mr. Bush for having him on the Cardinals. Gussie was quite taken with the letter, which helped Hemus gain the managerial position for the Cardinals later on. His tenure was unsuccessful and he was replaced by Johnnie Keane during the 1961 season.

Goody had big feet, the real reason for the other nickname, but the character Luther in the Jesse Stone novels and TV shows gets the nickname Suitcase because of the other given reason for Harry's second moniker

Maybe not know as a superstar in baseball but spent 30 months in the Atlantic and Pacific during WW2 helping with beach landings in Africa, Sicily, Italy and Normandy.
