Default Pd 42

To clarify, David Hall did not complete the PD 42 run. He was missing the Chase Trophy and for many years had PSA convinced it did not exist. The subset is very difficult to complete. There are many cards that seem to show up more often than others. Then the opposite happens with the Tinker batting, Donlin, Schlei Portrait and the Evers as well to name a few. I collected the back run of these because I needed a fun rare back challenge and I live in NC. It was a 5 year or so journey that cost quite a bit of money( once people know you want them you are in trouble, at least I was) but was fun to complete. Teds list of 72 are the ones that have been seen. There are 4 that are speculated to exist but have not been proven to exist. Value is all over the place. The higher grades start to rival other similar difficult backs but the low grade average around 2-3X. Didn't mean to ramble on but these have been a passion.

Adam, ramble on brother. You're one of the authorities on P42.

P42s are always fun .... especially when you find one randomly in a pile of "just Piedmonts" ..............

.............. I only have a hand full in my set, but this one is my lowest pop. ..................

I got this Gabby Street catching for $10 back in the days when a regular T206 Piedmont in this type of condition would be around $15 or more (always the bargain shopper). When I received it, lo and behold, factory 42 it be.

It is my one and only, the rarest T206 back that I have (always have been a front guy), and Gabby is likely in for a lifetime of T206 Piedmont 42 loneliness.

Default Thank you for the updaye

Wasn’t aware of the factory 42 rarity. Piedmont has always been one of my favorite backs. Thanks for the info guys!

That’s one of the many reasons why T206 is fantastic, always something new to learn!

Brian, I did the same thing with the Merkle. I bought one on eBay fifteen years ago. The scan was poor, and it cost $25. When I received it I found that it was a Factory 42.

Default PIEDMONT 350-460 Factory 42

Here are seven PIEDMONT 460/42 cards that are of the dark blue ink variety. Mostly, all of my "42's" are the light blue ink variety.

He should have asked me; I had one for many years and it was the only one I had!

Default My one and only

Do we really know the POP's given some of the older Piedmonts are logged in as regular backs?

There are some great looking 42s shown. And some have very dark back print, a big bonus. Many moons ago, when I was doing my T206 back run, 42s were actually one of the tougher ones relative to some other toughies. As is always mentioned, they don't get their just dues but then again, they are only a factory change.

Default PIEDMONT 350-460 Factory 42

Where have all the T205 PIEDMONT 350-460 Factory 42 cards gone ?

Certain T205 versions are just as tough to find just as are their T206 "cousins".

Frank Schulte is a good example of one of them......
