Default When he was only 47 . . .

. . . he joined Walter Johnson in an exhibition appearance during a Washington/New York doubleheader on August 23, 1942, for the benefit of the Army-Navy relief funds.

The first picture shows Ruth acknowledging the crowd of more than 75,000 at Yankee Stadium.

The second picture finds Ruth slamming one of Barney's fast ones out to "Ruthville". Benny Bengough is catching, and Billy Evans is behind the plate.
