There are some uncut '49 Bowman sheets on ebay being sold by two different sellers.
Oddly, the two sellers, which are located in different states (NJ, and FL) have posted eerily similar listing descriptions, and many of the cards on their sheets are the same players. Not sure what to make of this. It doesn't look like the uncut sheets qualify for the ebay authenticity guarantee either. https://www.ebay.com/itm/354546143211 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/36407702417...mis&media=COPY Last edited by cgjackson222; 01-30-2023 at 07:01 PM. |

Could be the same seller with different accounts. It is pretty common so you can list more items for free. Just message one of the accounts and ask.

The items in the photograph look good to me.
Whether these are legitimate listings, I would be suspicious. |

Look legit to me, the same as the one I've got now and same as the one I had as a kid in the '70's- same series and double printed on back. Suspect these were printer make ready sheets and instead of getting tossed they got saved.

Likely legit but description is BS, they would not have handed out samples with misprinted backs and missing color. I believe these kind of Bowman sheets came from Philly area junk/paper dealers, who bought paper by the pound from the carters back then. Philly seems to have a had a robust cottage industry in used paper and cardboard, old comics, etc., moreso than any other Northeast city from what I've read/seen.

I’ve had one like this for over 40 years story was it supposedly came out of a dumpster? Condition on mine is g-vg w double overprinted backs as well. Think I paid $75 back in the day…..

I reached out to the sellers about why their descriptions are so similar, and neither addressed that issue:
From seller "goose_1": "updated the information.....my sheet was obtained years ago from Frank Nagy, one of the pioneers of baseball card sales..he had at the time a couple of Wagner T-206s. I had the sheet framed.....the other seller now had info I thought was an explanation// not sure of it.." Note that I didn't amend the response by goose_1, he apparently just writes with a lot of ellipses. And from the other seller "flipnj": "I think Bowman may have made more than 1. If the other is authentic, its a great price." Obviously, the responses are lacking, especially the second one. I am not finding a lot of comps for these, but it seems like $2,750 starting bid from goose_1 for the sheet with #s 1 through 36 is a reasonable price. Seems like it would be risky to ship them in the glass frame, but I guess he can get insurance thru fedex, which is how the seller says he/she is shipping it.
