It's just wedged. I agree with others, poor quality control but probably not a mark.

I have to agree with everyone in saying that it doesn't look like marker and looks like a strip of plastic due to the shadows it casts and the way the light is reflected differently in different places. It's possible it's not moving when you tap on it because of the way the holder is sealed. Maybe it's just stuck in place?

I don’t think that’s a marker. It doesn’t appear flat. Probably a plastic piece from the apron. A headache, but SGC will probably fix the issue for you after a phone call or two.

Yep, definitely appears to be a piece of plastic. SGC should definitely fix this gratis. Please let us know what they respond with.

I'm thinking it's more like swarf rather than detritus, but that's just me.

Did you even loupe it before concluding it was marker?

In this camp too Bobby, with the cast shadow this really seems to be one of two possibilities. Either a scrap object within the case, or possibly a mark on the outside of the case casting the shadow.

Send for a recasing.

It's not on the outside because Goof off did absolutely nothing to it.

Can't you just look with a loupe? This seems like it would be a very simple thing to figure out.

Well it was a just a guess on possibilities as to shadow. In the future, I find goof off is near worthless on permanent marker. Switch to 99% rubbing alcohol. Much better.
