I spent years 2-21 of my life in Ohio…was in HS and college through the Big Red Machine years…I always hated the Reds (jealousy) but that’s neither here nor there….just wondering how you guys feel about the current sorry state of the Reds. You and the city deserve better.

Cincinnati is one of the best fan bases in MLB, and their fans clearly deserve better. I'm a Reds fan living in the PNW, and saw the same BS from the Mariners for over a decade. At least the M's are now viable. Lots easier to root for them than the self-imploding Reds. Great American Ballpark should play this during the 7th inning stretch... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqB9lhHqmsE Last edited by perezfan; 01-03-2023 at 07:27 PM. |

I grew up in Billings, Montana, and we were the MiLB team for the Reds, and we were geographically centered to root for 3 MLB teams (Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis). I attached to the Reds and Mariners in 1995 when both made the playoffs. The Mariners overshadowed the Reds that year. I also became a huge fan of Cleveland in the late 90s. I went all in on the Reds in 1999 when they won 95 games, and in 2000 they got Griffey. The only time I've seen the Reds in person is when they travel to Seattle. Needless to say, all five teams I'm emotionally attached to have not won a World Series within my memory; Cleveland has been three times, and Colorado once. It's hard to be mad at the Reds when every other team I root for also "align payroll to our resources." So I've learned to appreciate small victories. Sent from my SM-G9900 using Tapatalk

A salary cap would do wonders for baseball — just see how well it works in other sports like the NBA, where teams in cities like New Orleans and Sacramento have better records than teams in LA and Chicago. Unfortunately, the greedheads who run baseball have rigged the game in favor of the big market teams. For every small market team that has some success, like the Cleveland Guardians, there are a bunch of other small market teams like the Reds and A's which are doing little to get better, yet their owners are getting well-compensated through revenue sharing.

Also, just look at the Reds' "sister team". The same "small market Bengals" are thriving as one of the best teams in the NFL. Last edited by perezfan; 01-04-2023 at 12:15 PM. |

I picked this scrapbook up years ago because, although it started as a KiKi Cuyler scrapbook (I think), it had a few Cubs in it. Thought I would share for the Reds fans on the site.

I picked up this neat scrapbook about a year ago that a lady made from 1974-76. She was very much a fan of Cesar Geronimo, but the book is representative of all of the Big Red Machine during that era.
