1896 St. Hyacinthe team from the short-lived independent International League (not the AAA International League).

I wasn't expecting a St Hyacinthe sighting!
The Taylor Smith photo I posted above is from his time in Canada with St. Jean but it came with two other photos, one a St Hyacinthe team composite and the other two players from the team likely at Parc Laframboise in Saint-Hyacinthe where all the local teams played starting in 1901. The uniforms read GABBC - Granite Association Base Ball Club - because the Granite Mills used to sponsor the club from its inception in 1894 until 1897. However, the photo might have been taken later than 1897 as these uniforms could be leftovers from previous seasons. The player Mannion in the composite might be George Manion of T206 fame as this photo was taken a year before his first entry in Baseball Reference (when he was 20) and he didn't live far away as he grew up in upstate New York. I added a little more fun info to my Taylor Smith post too. And I owe a big thank you to a friend for helping me to uncover most of what I have learned about these photos.

Thank you, Gary. Kelly is not a scarce subject, but for some reason this particular pose is hard to find with good contrast.

One of my favorite item being a Phillies fan. Hamilton. Delahanty, Thompson all on the same item the same year they all hit 400 as an outfield. It’s thought this piece was issued to players in the organization.

Connor—What makes you think that the schedule was only issued to players? I would think that the schedule was for fans. No reason to,print a schedule up for players.

Hi Jay- To answer your question- the gentleman that sold me the item made mention of the possibility when it was discovered the font used for philadelphia baseball club” on the back was the exact same font used for official team documents/checks of the period. He shared with me an example matching the two. In which all the info he gave To me I forwarded to SGC for the encapsulation process. It’s not a guarantee by a long shot, but I believe the thought was by the seller —with only a couple of examples known, mine and another in the NYPL- that this production was possibly limited to just the organization. I’m going to go back on my emails with the seller, and see if there was more to it than what I mentioned and remember.

The first professional team in Los Angeles was the 1892 Seraphs. This is an imperial cabinet of that team, a team which became the first SoCal team in the California League that year.
