Al, the card that you show from Lloyd from your wonderful Mayorquina collection, it was mine a few years ago, now I show you a photo of that time when I had it, I imagine that you must have many cards that were mine, that makes me very happy.

December 29, 1878, today marks the 144th anniversary of the start of the 1st Baseball Championship in Cuba, a game between Habana and Almendares won by Habana 21 runs x 20, played on the El Siboney grounds on Tulipán street in Cerro de La Havana. In the year 1940 it was decided that this day would be "Base Ball Day" and on December 29 the exaltations to the Hall of Fame of Cuba were made, I show a photo from an old newspaper announcing this historic game.

Default Lloyd, Foster, Mallorquina 1928

Al Jurgela, I see that you have Foster's card that was mine for many years, just like Lloyd's, I'm glad they are part of your impressive collection, I show a photo of both that I took years ago, when they were mine.

José Marti and Baseball, today January 28 on the anniversary of the birth of Our Apostle, I will write something about his relationship with this sport, several writings are known that appear in several volumes of his Complete Works, Marti lived permanently for many years in United States, mainly in the 1880s, I show you a photo of the Cabañas 1909 Post Cards collection, and next to Agustín "Tinti" Molina, in 1889, in Key West, Marti was present at a ball game between the team Cuba and another from the United States, and Tinti hit a home run and the Cuban team won. At the end of the game, the apostle asked to go see the Macanazo player (that's what Marti called the home run) and congratulated him on the victory of the Cuban team because to his performance at bat. In the other photo you will see a page from the book La Esfera y el Tiempo, its author Dr. Félix Julio Alfonso, on several pages he writes about the different articles by Marti that appear in his Complete Works, in the other photo we see Francisco Poyo, member of the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame, son of José Dolores Poyo, founder of the Cuban Revolutionary Party together with José Marti, and the other photo is from an interview that appeared in the press on the occasion of his exaltation to the Hall of Fame, Francisco Poyo was part of the Cuban team in the 1889 game that Marti witnessed
