PSA 10s go for about $1,500 right now. In December of 2012, Trout was about $50. 30x movement compared to this date 10 years ago.

Just stop. in 2012, the Trout was a base card from a one-year-old product. You could have picked up gem mint raw cards all day long.
Trout has been a great card to hold, but I think modern cards are a different story than vintage. There is much more price volatility when players are still in the middle of their careers. I am sure we could name some players that started out as commons before becoming stars, and their rookies went from 1x to 100x.
