For the record, I have never sold or given out (for public use) any information from the bit of contact info on file. No names, emails or phone numbers, ever.

Dalshire International apparently is owned/run by John House, who had a prior (?) auction house called "At Auction." A quick Google search on him and "At Auction" send chills down the spine -- employees told not to deposit checks, vendors not paid, etc., etc. Looks like, just maybe, Dalshire is "At Auction 2.0" and merely another vehicle for the sale of shoddy fake crap at inflated prices using buddies to leave positive reviews on legit sites like Live Auctioneers.

All of the forgers at Coach's Corner Auctions have a new outlet. Twice the items in the market. How do these companies exist?

"June 30, 1846. Mr Cartwright, c/o New York Knickerbockers Base Ball Club: Dear Sir, Although we don't have base ball yet here in the Midwest, I have heard about it and it sounds like a great game for the youth of America. To introduce the Illinois area to this pastime, I would very much appreciate your sending me the ball used in your recent game against the New Yorks signed by the members of your team. Perhaps some day I will be in a position to return the favor. Sincerely, A. Lincoln." Estimate, ball and letter, $1,000-$5,000." COA, Coaches Corner.

I didn't mean to suggest you were, but that's good to know and appreciated. Do auction houses sell client lists to eachother? My comment about FB and Google was more that I'm sure they've already sold my info to anyone that wants it. Seems I just think about something these days and an ad pops up for it.

If this auction house (if you can call it that) was run by someone under a different name, then perhaps that's where the info came from.

Insofar as unsolicited auction house emails are concerned, I don't necessarily mind them provided that it appears that the business in question is at least trying to run a fairly clean operation. If the material seems mostly forged or altered, that deeply bothers me and makes me question which businesses are sharing information with a shady outfit. On a related note, auction house emails are fine in small numbers. If these businesses constantly flood my inbox, I consider that invasive. I simply refuse to do business with people who can't tell the difference between a tactful limit of email contact and sheer annoyance/spam. There's lots of competition out there for my money. Stuff doesn't trump all for everybody. |

I was mostly saying I haven't ever given out info like that, for our newer members, but I appreciate the vote of confidence (as well as the others). If I was doing anything wrong in the hobby, it would be known about. Comes with the territory. I have no worries in that respect. My worry is, how can I afford to keep collecting!!
As for the original topic, go with trusted sources. Very new auction houses need to get an extra bit of review. and a card for no real reason.... Quote:

I will add a card as well for no reason, other than that it is my favorite Wagner that I own, and the closest I will ever get to a t206.

What made me laugh, was the 1927 Yankees ball. In the auction description it said "All signatures are signed in black ink." Most of the sigs look BLUE to me. Can black sigs in that era fade to black????

Seriously, shouldn't the FBI be alerted to these evil-doers. I, too, have been getting their solicitation emails.
