Thanks, I didn't see this previously. That explains the sheet cut reference on the label. Too bad Mr. Nagy didn't take a photo of the sheet before it was cut. Of course this was all before a single card could be worth more than a car, or in some cases a house.

Not sure about SGC, but my recollection is that PSA will give numerical grades for items "intended" to be hand cut. Think 1962 Jell-o and individual Bazooka items. And for items intended to be factory cut, if they are hand cut from a sheet, then you only get Authentic as your grade.

Although at times, it seems like they stray from that approach.

I guess they had to get it out of their system early.

I must be jaded. A number of the high grade major cards look a bit narrow or short to me.

Yes, but don’t you see the “9” or “10” on the slab?! By acquiring this trimmed card a corporate entity will say I have the best copy there is, which makes me feel good and superior to other collectors.

How would a grader know if a card is sheet cut versus trimmed? Will they take my word for it? Just wondering.

Just once, for one of these auctions with this type of material, I would love to see a list of the consignors.
