Bid on many, many T205s but didn't win any. Was surprised that there were PSA 5 commons, not even short prints, going for 300-500+ while some key HOFers went for relatively unimpressive prices. Danny Hoffman beat out Chief Bender and Frank Chance? Even the WaJo and Addie Joss went pretty low compared to recent auctions.

I won the mislabeled Tenney variation. Even with the writing the NY and Boston is very desirable. Not only was the card mislabeled as "NY" it also reads checklist back, when it is an ad back!

Congrats Jay. I was eyeing a few T3's as upgrades, but the prices were very strong, so did not pick up any. But I was happy to see that T3's are holding their value (or even increasing somewhat!).

I picked up five E101's to continue my work on that set, think I'm up to 33 now. There's been a noticeable uptick in available E101's the last few months, so I've really started to make some headway in something that I thought would take years. Sadly, the Mathewson went into the stratosphere, which was not too surprising since it looked great, but I was a little bummed to miss out on the E101 Lajoie as a Nap & E101 collector. Someone just really wanted that card more than I did. Or had deeper pockets than I did. Or both. No worries though, the joy is in the hunt.

I picked up a tough Cobb, a bit beat up, but it’s a beauty in my eyes

T206 prices in this auction overall were actually flattish compared to eBay prices from July and August. And that includes the buyer's premium. So I guess it depends on your baseline. I was pretty underwhelmed with the final bids. I say that as someone who still has a nontrivial T206 collection and would like to see prices continue to rise.

T206 commons below grade 5 are definitely slowing, too many available every month.

The T204 prices were strong, especially given the fact that most were lower grade. Most of the few mid grade examples, did very well, many 1's-2's were nearly double their recent prices.

Agreed. Most of the T206’s I had bid on and on my watch list have trended down a bit, but there were a few that ended stronger than I thought.

LOVE the E94 Crawford. Thought the price was really strong, given that there has been that SGC 1.5 sitting on eBay for $599 for a year. But the one from this REA auction is much nicer. Congrats John!

I got a few of the tough T205s i need for a master set, notably the Dolly Gray Stats on Back. Actually has only 56 graded by PSA, behind the rare Matty and the Hoblitzell only. Paid for it. I also upgraded the T9 Wolgast (boxers went pretty strong). To me, you need those to have a complete set, they are in the checklist after all. They are really beautiful, cool cards anyway.

I also got a few other psa 4 T205s that were quite tough, A Leifeld and the Wilhelm. Nice cards, only about 100 psa graded. A bit more than i wanted to pay. Let a bunch of others go. But it was a nice selection, not sure when we will see all of those again soon in nice shape.

Thought the t213-2s went pretty cheap but i didn’t have energy to focus soon enough.

I think commons means different things to different people. Back in the day, a common was typically characterized as anyone other than a hof’er or star player. In memorabilia and cards, I define it as more frequently seen or more abundant. I picked up the Hoffman. It is the yellow second base with the yellow streak line in the background variant. It is quite rare. Not a “common” Hof’er 😂 It also has very good registration which I really loved(makes up for less than perfect corners and centering.
In the world of t205- I think we are seeing a definitive shift- overall low pop issues/rare variants/backs ruling the roost.

Amazing pick up just a gorgeous card, I heard this card is rarer than the Hoblitzell no stats, is that true? Would anyone know?

Prices probably would have been higher if the auction had been curated.

I would describe overall pricing in this auction as "high prices in hobby holding" as some stuff trended down moderately and some up.

Default Bunch of pick ups

Some great Pirate cards for the collection my kids and I are working on:

1914 CJ Clarke (paid up)
1914 CJ Oakes (paid up)

Both of the above I felt had great eye appeal for the grade - so I paid a little higher than I otherwise might have. I dropped out of a few of the others that seemed to go too high.

T207 Donlin red cycle - SUPER TOUGH card - went for about what I thought it would. Down to 1 on the T 207 team set (McKechnie)

T3 Wilson - completes the T3 Pirates

A bunch of T213's - considering their scarcity I thought I stole most of these!
