Q-tip and water and slowly dab it on a gently rub it off. Glue back then is very water soluble.

Make sure the first few tries are the least valuable cards, and above all BE PATIENT! I have a couple ruined Mantles because I wasn't patient.

I got this card from it's original owner's grandson in the big (for me) Trucker Boy find from many years ago. It had a dime sized glue remnant stuck in the middle of the back. I used the aforementioned method on it. There are still a few specs of the glue left, which I didn't care about.
'This is the 2nd time I have owned the card. ![]()

Try the worst/cheapest first, as outlined above.
If it's Elmers glue, chances are very high it won't come off without a fight and probably take some paper with it. If it's paste it will come off pretty easy. If the first one does not cooperate, accept as they are and enjoy. |

The backs of these look like someone may have already tried and failed to remove the glue by soaking. This is what it looks like if the glue won't come off but most of the paper will. Otherwise, there'd usually be more paper on them if they hadn't already been soaked.
