Thanks to all vets for their service! I served in the USMC from 2001-2009 and have been in the Navy Reserves since 2009.

Profound gratitude to all Veterans for their sacrifice & commitment to our Nations freedom.
And a remembrance for: My Grandfather Leonard Brindle who fought the Germans at Tobruk, North Africa, and chased Hitler all the way up Italy. My former wife's Uncle who disappeared on Tarawa, never to be found. My Uncle Herb who did 2 tours as a Marine Pilot in Southeast Asia, and later lost his battle with the Demons that came from that. My Uncle Lew who didn't really want to go to Vietnam but did his duty, and came back a changed man. Every MIA Veteran who never made it home. And every thread needs a card. Captain Eddie Grant 77th ID Grant was one of the first men to enlist when the United States entered World War I in April 1917, and he served as a captain in the 77th Infantry Division. During the fierce battle of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, all of Grant's superior officers were killed or wounded, and he took command of his troops on a four-day search for the "Lost Battalion." During the search, an exploding shell killed Grant on October 5, 1918. He was the first Major League Baseball player killed in action in World War I. He was buried at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in Lorraine, France. Last edited by Casey2296; 11-11-2022 at 01:44 PM. |
