Default Jimmy Collins Topps T206 (way to go Topps!) :eyeroll

Geez Topps. Have you guys ever seen this? Pretty bad mistake to make considering Eddie is one of the greatest 2nd basemen ever...

Now if they would have used an E98 Eddie Collins card their typo would be correct.

Ouch. This is evidently a long-standing problem with these two players...check out this E93 picturing Jimmy Collins that collectors were led (and are still being led by the grading companies) to believe that the card pictures Eddie Collins, instead of Jimmy Collins that is pictured.

Brian (E93 Jimmy Collins card not mine) Edited to add: and Phil is faster than me, and provided another set this image is seen but incorrectly identified by many as Eddie.

In 2001 UD put Eddie Mathews image on a Tommy Holmes jersey card and Homes would not sign it.

The Error was discovered when they were first distributed in 2002.
They also had it wrong on the checklist for his regular issued card in the set.

Eddie Collins has 6 WS Championships: 5 with Philadelphia and 1 with Chicago. He is the only player with 5 WS Championships with one team that is not a New York Yankee.

He out ran Heinie Zimmerman to score the game winning run in the WS against the New York Giants

He also avoided the Black Sox scandal while with Chicago and was part of the 1939 HOF class that reached the initial goal of 10 HOF inductees.

Default The Bat Chip Belong toooooooo….?

So, Jimmy Collins in name, Eddie Collins in image; and the game used bat chip belongs to Eddie or Jimmy? It is most likely just the wrong image and the name and bat chip match but wasn’t sure how Topps defined the UER.

The disclaimers on this sets relics are incredibly vague and don’t really promise anything. It might not even be either of them

Keith Olbermann is a member here and he had some involvement in the set, he doesn't post here often but he might have information on the relic cards. In one of the box toppers it does say the Wagner bat relic was cut from one of his game used bats.

Default COMC / TCDB Defines 2002 Topps 206 Collins UER

I messaged COMC regarding the UER and their customer service referenced the TCDB and defined the 2002 Topps 206 Collins bat card UER as; Jimmy Collins Name and Bat Chip with Eddie Collins Image.

I think whoever at Topps put this relic package together might have had too many Tom Collins. I guess you would have to think the bat splinter is Jimmy's.
