Default Time for a show-n-tell UZIT fest, so if you have a UZIT....show it.

My absolute favorite UZIT card is this John McGraw for several reasons. It was discovered 42 years ago, and it's been a unique
T206 ever since. It was in a collection of cards which were originally purchased circa 1980 at the Willow Grove Show.

I think you will find this story very interesting.

I am sharing this story with you because there is a lesson to be learned from it. It's original owner (a Net54 "reader") contacted
me 5 years ago asking me if I was interested. I certainly was. He had approx. 100 cards (Vg-Ex), and wanted to sell all of them.
This lot included 22 different T206's (HOFer's and commons), and 77 (1948 - 1975 BOWMAN's and TOPPS) stars and HOFer's.

Four other guys contacted the owner for the McGraw/UZIT card. But were not interested in any of the other cards in his collection.
I played it smart, and told the owner that I would purchase his entire collection. I made him a nice offer. And, the deal was done.

Hi PeterB

Any luck in finding your Chance (batting) with the UZIT back ?

Wow…the Herzog Boston Uzit in Leland’s went for $6,500 with the juice! No way I thought it would go that high. Well above what I was willing to spend, but someone got an amazing card!

Chris

I'm not quite sure what you are alluding to...... "that one from Uzit was the 2nd known example"

My Herzog / UZIT card has a provenance of many years when it was discovered in a collection from the Smoky Mountain (North Carolina) region.
And, until recently, it was a 1-of-1 card, all these years.

The Herzog card Lelands sold is a relatively recent find.

Sorry Ted, don't get me wrong. I know your Uzit was a 1/1 for the longest time but what I meant was since there are such low pop of Herzog with Uzit, that explains why it sold for that much last nite. No doubt someone is building an Uzit set.

Hi Chris

Thanks for clarifying.

Besides the scarcity of many of the 74 subjects printed with the UZIT back, there are quite a number of collectors striving to complete T206 runs which require this back.
And, the old law of "supply vs. demand" drives their cost quite high.

Take care,
