T206 Soaking - odds of success?

Hi all, I just picked up a small T206 group where every card has these little adhesive stamps on them. Some still have the scrapbook paper stuck to the stamps, the image I’m sharing shows most of the paper already gone.

Wondering if anybody has had success with removing this type of thing via soaking?

Understanding that the right answer is probably “you won’t know until you try!” I’ll note that I have never soaked a card before and am not inclined to do it if folks here can take a look at this and say that the odds of success are low.

I would expect good results soaking those! Take the one you care the least about and give it a try… you have nothing to lose!!

It's worth a shot. I've been soaking cards for the past 30 years. The odds of success depends largely on the type of glue used, but for an adhesive stamp like this I would think it wouldn't be much of a problem. If you do soak any cards, be sure to put them between two paper towels and then put a stack of books or other heavy objects on top of them while they dry. Leave them like that for a few days.

Sorry for the ignorance but I’ve never soaked a card either. Do you need a special solution or do you just dunk them in water?

Those look like "selvage" leftover bits from the edge of postage stamp sheets.

They should soak off with very little trouble at all, 10-15 minutes in plain water.

I’ve had a T206 once with a similar stamp.
Let it soak for a while and the stamp should start to come off.
Don’t rush it and you should have good results like I did.
