Originally I thought the 2019 Mariners with 29 players without a plate appearance was the answer, but it has been pointed out to me that the 2020 Marlins had 36 players without plate appearances. I have been unable to find another team with 30 or more such players.

Therefore the 2020 Marlins are the top team and it isn't even close.

I realize this is no distinction and if anybody really cares, I would question their sanity.

NL had the DH in 2020 so that makes sense.

Ah, inter-league play…that’s why the Mariners didn’t get it. So my first suspicion was right…at least for now.

Now that we have the universal DH, someone will likely pass the Marlins.
