Cobb and Wagner in purple .... scans arent great
Finished this set 5-6 years ago.... seems like purple is fairly rare and orange rarely even seen.. any thought on colors?

Damn those are nice!!! I used to follow this set much more closely than I do now. Purple have always been desirable, for some reason. I honestly think that some colors of some cards appear to be hard to find… only way to know this is by experience and talking to other collectors. I think yellow or gold is also considered a tougher color? I was under the impression most oranges were one of a kind?

Beautiful cards, thanks for posting. I've only been at it a couple of years but IME Orange (there's only one of each although there's rumored to be two Cobbs) > Purple > Gold/Green/Blue > Red/Olive. I lump them together because as Pete mentioned once you start moving up in grade there are specific player/color combinations that are more difficult. It also depends on how many collectors are in the E94 market at the time, plus you just don't see examples come up that often, the last substantial offering was John Esches collection last year.

It wasn't a rumor on the 2 cobbs. I saw a 7 and an 8.....both in PSA holders if I recall. I couldn't believe it either. Tony Arnold showed them to me. Definitely 2 very high end orange cobbs, at least.

Default Bescher

Bumping this thread on my favorite set to show my Bescher run with the M131 also and a few dupes. I’m building a binder set also and have plenty to trade if anyone is interested.

Haven't posted this one in a while but here's my "silverback" Doolan.

e94Doolan.jpg

Still haven't seen any others with this color of background. I imagine it was originally cut off a sheet with other cards, perhaps that also have different colored backgrounds?

From an oddity standpoint, I think I also have a Bates around here somewhere with some oversized borders that was handcut. I've owned a blue Speaker with a ghost on the reverse and a red Byrne with an upside down back. So a few neat goofs came out of this set for sure.

Question on the Oranges - was it ever confirmed that there are more than one of any of the players in this color? Or is the thinking that these were still cut off the same sheet?
