Sounds like the culprit had some knowledge on sport cards. Best case scenario they end up at a pawn shop and will get back to the owner. I remember going by that guys booth and all of his Mantles were ungraded.

Except in the 3rd picture you can see there are 1961, 1963, and 1968 graded Mantles in the case in the upper left corner.
