Some of you may be aware that in the 1960 Topps baseball set card numbers 375-440 are printed on three different color card stocks.
Gray, Cream and White. See below. I am attempting to collect each card in all three backs. I am curious about the break down in the colors. The white seems to be the hardest to find, at least for me. So how many white NOT cream backs do you have in your 1960 Topps set in numbers 375-440? In lieu of showing them (unless you want to) just list what numbers you have with the white backs. Curious to see if others find the same lack of white backs.

A big, fat zero from my binder set.

I have one (now, once had 2) 410 Sam Jones. I have mentioned these white, non-cream backs to other collectors and they have no idea what I am speaking of. Likely because they are pretty rare. Having gone through 1,000s and 1,000s of cards from this series for my own collection plus 1,000s and 1,000s more at shows and shops, I have seen just two.
My only question is what back's are tougher to find, the 52 GBs or these? |

I've been looking for the four Orioles (395 Wilhelm, 399 Young Hill Stars, 406 Klaus and 422 Powers) to complete my team set for years with no luck at all. You are right most collectors don't realize there are white and cream backs.

Same for me..although a couple of the cream colored stock cards are very light and could almost pass as white backs. Of those 65 cards in my binder only five are grey backs.
I need to check my dupes.

Never heard of "white backs" as well. Just went through both my binder sets and about 200 extras...nothing here either.
It was cool to see that all my cards match (cream with cream, gray with gray within the same number)...UNTIL cards 375-440. Within those numbers I have both cream and gray backs within the same card and seem to almost have one of each. I have both a gray and a cream Roger Maris for example (377) But only in those numbers...

BTW...several sellers on Ebay advertise "white backs"...especially siriussportscardsauctions who has several...but all seem to be "cream" to me, or match what I have. Either they are confused, or maybe the "white" versions you've pictured or others have seen are just really clean cream backs?
Again, I've put several 1960 sets together and never heard of white backs so no clue here... https://www.ebay.com/itm/18201873282...cAAOSwWMhagnff

I had similar experience while putting together a 1960 set and then continually upgrading it. Knew about but never found any white backs... at all. I simultaneously collected 52Ts and over the course of the years accumulated 7 or 8 gray backs that were not identified as such by the various sellers; and lots more that were identified as and sold as gray backs. So, my experience suggests that these white backs are significantly scarcer. |

I've seen exactly one 1960 white back in person and believe they are significantly rarer than the 1952 grays.

If your doing research about the 1960 Topps Backs here is what I have when I checked my inventory : I have a total of 83 cards from this series.
I'm not sure if any of the Cream backs are white or not, I think all "cream " ??? not sure. See a couple attached scans. Are both "cream" , Maas is darker ??? Gray Back : 68 ( 82% ) Cream Back : 15 ( 18 % ) White Back : 0 ( ? ) 0%

Both of yours are cream. You can see the difference in my original post with all three backs shown.

I looked through my set and there were no white backs.
And looked through a hundred or so extras, no white backs.

In my set, which I built card by card from dozens of different sources with no consideration given towards the backs, I have:
24 cream 39 gray 2 white (#382 Ted Bowsfield & #404 Bob Rush) |

Actually after another look through my set, I'm pretty sure I have three white backs. At least I think I do, I'm certainly no expert having just realized this. Gray and cream back for perspective.

I think somewhere near the beginning of the never ending Variations thread Sliphorn ( Thomas) posted a Topps 1960 Repulski with a botched K. It is extremely scarce but it is also mentioned I think by Mike Cady in his effort to update the Variation publications of Dick Gilkeson.
See this link http://baseballcardvariationsguidebo...wordpress.com/ I finally found one on ebay after years of searching. Note the back of the botched K card versus the regular K card Document_2022-05-13_150456.jpg Document_2022-05-13_150314.jpg |
