Speaking about the T206 Plank.....

Since you asked....stay tuned for a lengthy dissertation:

My T206 fascination started with my 1st T206......Hal Chase (blue portrait).......which I acquired at the famous Willow Grove Show in 1981.

I put together a 521 card set (including MAGIE) by the mid 1990's. After which, I sold this set to a friend of mine, circa 1997.

In 2005, I acquired a large collection of T206's (including most of the rare backs). I completed this 2nd set (520 cards) by Jan 2006.

Then, I decided to get adventurous....45% of this set was composed of PIEDMONT cards. So, I sold (or traded) the Non-PIEDMONT cards,
and set off to achieve an ALL - PIEDMONT set. Circa November 2006, this all-PIEDMONT set was complete consisting of 519-cards [MINUS
Wagner, Plank, Joe Doyle, and the Demmitt & O'Hara St. Lo. variations (Polar Bear cards)].

The 4th set...regardless of the fact that there are only 408 cards...was quite a challenge. I had to figure out the numerous NO-PRINTS while
putting together a complete ALL - SOVEREIGN set. I achieved this mission by November 2007.

And the 5th set. While the SOVEREIGN set has 122 No-Prints, a SWEET CAPORAL Factory #30 set has just 55 No-Prints. A near-complete
SWEET CAP set (467 cards) was achieved by circa 2009. It took me approx. 6 years to acquire this Plank card. I consider my SWEET CAP set
complete without the Wagner.

Ted I might be wrong but wouldn't an all Sovereign set be 406 cards?

Basically, a complete SOVEREIGN set consists of 402 subjects. My set has 408 cards.
Since it includes the SIX SUPER PRINTS with both the SOVEREIGN 350, and 460 backs.
A SOVEREIGN master set consists of 476 cards.

Ok I get it now Ted I didn't realize you were counting the super prints twice.
I still have an all Sovereign (vs a master) set a little different.


The way I see it is of the 524 subjects I have 70 subjects that weren't printed with any of the Sovereign backs plus the 48 Southern Leaguers so 524-118 = 406 different
subjects printed with a Sovereign back.

Sorry Pat for the delay, as I was away.

OK, here is how it plays out. There are 122 no-prints in the SOVEREIGN set. Starting with Wagner, Plank, Magie, Joe Doyle Nat'L, Lundgren, Demmitt, O'Hara,
Kleinow (Boston), F. Smith (Chi & Bos) and the 48 So. Lgrs. which total 57 subjects. Plus.....a total of 65 subjects in the 350-only Series that were not printed.
38 - Major Lge. guys and 27 - Minor Lge. guys. So, 9 + 48 + 65 = 122.

Therefore....524 - 122 = 402.

Hi Ted.

In my opinion, which ain’t worth much, unless you need or really could use the money, do not sell.

First, I think this card only goes up, and you likely have few better options for profit at the moment. Second, you might as well sell your entire subset, because it’s now incomplete and will never again be complete. So it’s more than just selling a plank, it’s abandoning that subset, which I would not do unless/until you needed it could really use the money. A Plank for a beach house….. good trade off!
