Chipping away at my second 1966 Topps set, picked up some nice high numbers at a local show here recently. These may not seem like sexy pick ups, but to set collectors they are! I think I am enjoying doing these sets in duplicate as much as the first time...also a great opportunity to upgrade original sets.

That 66 Russ Snyder is no easy card...thrilled to get that one off line!

I'm upgrading cards in my sets. The one I sought, obtained, and became slightly disillusioned was a 1953 Bowman Color Dale Mitchell. Those of you who have collected this set already know that this is a very difficult card to find centered. The one that I have/had in my set was a PSA 4.5 recent grade; it has sharp corners, but the centering is 25/75 left to right.

I saw a perfectly-centered Mitchell advertised in ex to ex-mint condition od Greg Morris's site. Bidding was ending during the Super Bowl and I won it at a great price. When it arrived I was ecstatic, until I saw it under the light and noticed the card has an indentation in the bottom left corner of the card as though it had been squeezed, the rest of the Mitchell is fantastic.

I've purchased from Greg Morris before and will continue to do so in the future. The card has great eye appeal, better than my PSA version, but there's the damage. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do yet. Here's the card:

Default SGC return today

I've had the cards for a while (the Jimmy B and Nolan for 30+ years), but the return from SGC just arrived today. I wasn't sure what SGC would do with the Jim Brown considering the centering, and the '71 Nolan had a slight bend at the top right, but presents very well. The Mick came out about what I expected.

Turn around was about a month.

I'm not a Poptometrist (someone who overuses the term “eye appeal” while talking about graded cards), but man, each of those look really nice. Sweet!!!
