My collecting focus has been Roberto Clemente - Primarily from 1951-1973 (when he passed) although exceptions are made for items that appeal to me visually post 73. Here is a large part of my collection:

At the moment, my collection is strictly focused on Clemente, Sandberg limited edition auto cards (I named my son after him as he was my childhood hero) and historically significant baseball tickets. Since I travel and spent significant amounts of time out of the US, I need to keep the collection compact.

I have a recent interesting Clemente story for you. Early this week, I had ordered a Clemente shirt online and went to the apartment mailroom to pick it up on the day it was delivered. Fedex, UPS, etc all just pile up the boxes and packages in this room and each person has to essentially dig through them. As I was digging for my package, I ran across one that said "Roberto Clemente Jr" and it was from a baseball type company in Florida. I almost fell over when I saw it, but ended up just taking a picture of the mailing label as I thought there must be another Jr?!? I wont post the label here as it has his address, but I was able to confirm it is him. I have no idea why he is living here and how long he will be, but he is with his wife and son. The strange thing was I was in the mail room to pick up a Clemente item. ![]() Last edited by philo98; 02-18-2022 at 08:40 AM. |
