I kinda giggle every time I see that card, because it seems like after they finished the shoot, the photog must've said, "Hey, Willie, can we just get one more quick one?" and had him re-pose. That's why his left thumb is on the same side of the bat as his other fingers - he's not gripping it like a normal player. It's as if he just grabbed the bat quickly for a last second 'pretend you're at the plate' pose, then dropped the bat and left.
