Regrading the auctions site, one thing I've noticed is there a lot more 88/90/2000s stuff than vintage. I think if I were going to auction vintage I'd be afraid to put something there as I think it may get overlooked as a lot of people don't go there because there is so much newer stuff.
I think I saw one pre-war BB card listing on the first page. There are some neat items; Crack Jack pins, T218, 1926 BB Magazine, but the bulk was post 80s. I bought and sold there and been happy with both - many times. Just wish there were more vintage. Thanks Bob

I didn't realize there is a rule for how often one may bump their listing on the BST section. What exactly should we be keeping it to? Thanks -Ryan |

ps...eric above posted the written rule. It makes sense for regular BST stuff but my take on the 2 bumps for a 5 day auction seems appropriate.

Any “ENDS TOMORROW” posts should cause the whole auction to be deleted. If your stuff is worth bidding on, it will find it’s way to the top every once in a awhile. It should be an initial post, and a bump on the last day. Period.

I am watching this over there, I see at least one person bumping a thread more than once every few days. I will try to rein it in some. It's not fair to everyone else when someone acts that way.

I have noticed one great thing. Since this thread started there have been more members posting cards for auction. There has been a very good selection of stuff to bid on, even some T206s.

Rather than just continually bumping a B/S/T item, is there a written or unwritten rule if someone continually keeps posting price reductions?

But that is a somewhat viable selling technique. The seller will start something off at a relatively high price, and then each day (or other designated time period) thereafter, they keep dropping the sales price by some fixed amount or increment until someone finally buys it. The trick is that it gets a buyer possibly paying more than expected because they don't want to wait too long to get a lower price, only to have another person step in and buy it out from under them. I think the term they use for that technique is a "reverse auction". |
