Replying to the revised inquiry...Lou Gehrig is the tougher player by a mile. The first half of his career came during years (1923-32) that had a big lull in card sets manufactured, while Babe Ruth played during a couple explosions of card manufacture (namely the early 20's, and 1933 time frame) that had multiple widely distributed sets.
I would venture to state that Lou is probably the top rung Hall of Famer (who played during the 20th century) that has the least amount of different available cards. Brian |
