Just a little extra here with the back commentary on the pickups. Also, Pettit is the only with a straight line cut on the border of his two pictures, except of course with the top left border on one.
The pictures were taken in March 1952 (mentioned on the back of most photos) in San Bernadino.

I picked up a couple of 1937 Goudey R342 Thum-Movie books of Joe Medwick
I'd never heard of these until I saw them in an auction. Learning something every day. For those who aren't familiar with them they're a series of photos in a book that you thumb through to see the player bat, field, etc. A 1937 equivalent of an animated GIF. :-)
