I bid $300 early, but I was uncomfortable with the look. I haven’t seen old (Pre-1916) bats with that type of dark uniform finish. Is it legitimate?

The wood on those bats can be very dark, but the center brand is off. Under J F Hillerich and Sons, there should be a dash, a dot (or small circle), and a dash, not an unbroken line with a small square in the middle. As I understand it, the straight line under the JF Hillerich and Sons means that it is a modern reproduction.

Totally agree looks to be aged. center brand definitely doesn't look right

Here are a few of my JF Hillerich and Son bats. Like Mark said, you can see the differences in the center brand of the original one and the modern one. What also stands out to me is the knob. You can see the lathe mark on mine compared to the modern bat.
