Default Take a Look Around my Office!

This was inspired by the thread at https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?p=2161966 - I posted a few pics in there over a year ago, and now everything has changed drastically! The vintage stuff is at the end

Over the past couple of years, I found that I enjoy displaying pieces of my collection in my office nearly as much as the pieces themselves! For the first time, I thought I'd show you my office in 360. I speak about this more in depth on the podcast episode I recorded last night 11/07/21 at www.tanmanbaseballfan.com/podcast

If you love baseball cards, transformers, comics, and voltron, I think you'll click with me ... otherwise, you will probably think I'm weird

This wall shows my game used / autographed bat of Canseco who hit home run #12 in 1997 with it. On top of this bat is the custom player worn & signed letter set that I created, using a jersey from each team he played on. Above this are 9 framed pieces, most of which are taken from when I was on the cover of Beckett Magazine with Jose back in Aug. 2015. (I think it was Aug?)

Here are the vast majority of my favorite Canseco cards. It is filled with many of my absolute favorites that have ever been created of him! These simply couldn't be placed in a box. I'm happy they are out to breathe, and I love looking at them everyday! Above the shelf are some Gigapower Chrome Dinobots, and beneath are the #1 issues of X-Men, Fantastic Four, and The Avengers!

Perhaps my favorite view is this: I love the vintage corner, and frequently look at them.

Here is a more chaotic ... errr ... zoomed out view of this corner. This will no doubt drive some people crazy, but for me, I LOVE it! It's my own personal museum of my weird tastes

Here is a video of my office - pardon the dust & mess ... it is definitely lived in!

Looks nice! Maybe I should do something similar instead of only visiting my cards twice a year at the safe deposit box.

Yup, I work from home! I don't think I'd be too terribly excited to leave this stuff at an office. When we travel, I store them securely off site. Someone here is almost always home, we have guns, dogs, a security system, and when we travel, I store them off-site.

I can absolutely understand wanting to store things of value in such a manner, however, I view these pieces as art - art that should be enjoyed as much as possible. I highly recommend displaying - just make sure everything is secure, protected, and insured

You must love going to work everyday. How do you stay focused? I too have some odds and ends kicking around, but nothing as interesting as your set up -- beautiful.

Thanks Jason! I have very few comic books, but the ones I do have, I love. There are a few others in my collection (FF48, Walking Dead 1, ASM 300 & 361, NM98) but the ones that are out are my favorites.

When I first got into transformers, it was because of some super vague memories I had of dinobots and devy. I went from thinking G1 was the only way to go, to being captivated by the chrome gigapower dinobots and toyworld constructors. I still need to get my hands on some G1 dinos! I also have "shuraking" in the closet - he is a combiner with the dinobots ... extremely well done figure!

Virtually all the cards i am displaying have a compelling (to me) story. The GQ Kelly probably easily surpasses all of them in terms of story/history. I probably spent a month or two just researching the card, and its significance. I fell in love with it way more after researching than when I first bought it.
Thank you BTW, how about that Cardano, huh?

I don't take down everything whenever we go on a trip (which we rarely do) but I do it for the valuable cards and comics at a bare minimum.

I'll admit, I do find myself doing a 360 spin from time to time just looking at everything. It helps break up the day, that's for sure! I'm a big proponent for collecting what you love, and not what you are merely luke warm about. That is what has helped me be able to look at something I have displayed, and love it just as much now as I did when I bought it a year or two ago!
