As John said, Sportlots.com is an option for set builders. I have used them extensively over the years and you can save a ton of money over eBay. Be warned, however, that most listings do not include pictures/scans (although you can filter results to include those that do). Overall, I have been pleased with the site, but the sellers can be very inconsistent with their assigned grades. I typically look for a minimum of EX for my sets, but have received several cards that were listed as EX but were G-VG at best. Having said that, 99% of the sellers provided credit when I brought it to their attention. There is an established process on the site for disputed grades, etc.

Thanks all - with the late 60s sets I'm looking for EX-MT. I just went to Sportlots and bought 20 or so - good prices for the most part, some SPs priced higher than normal commons but not as high as eBay and at least they actually had them. I hope these come back really Ex-Mt - I have had occasional issue with a couple dealers there before, though I can't recall which ones, where I get a card advertised as ExMt and it comes EX at Best.
And when talking about Deans - yes, keep you head down. I'll admit I've never purchased from him, and I'll grant him the best customer service on Earth. I just can't see how he survives with some of those prices - I have to believe no one will EVER buy a 1978 Topps baseball set for $2,000 regardless of how he says it'll grade (making this price point up for an example). But, there's all kinds in the hobby these days, so you never know. |

I'm not saying don't use Sportslots, just as mentioned, lack of scans and inconsistent sellers can lead to surprises. [IMG] ![]()
