Thanks to Erik for making these available to me (first two). I think he used a time machine to get them because they are both pristine given their age.

The first is a blue cloth Houston Colts pennant. The second is an early Giants Candlestick pennant, with white spine and tassels. It's an uncommon pennant, and almost always dirty/damaged when it comes up. I already had one with a black spine, but could not pass up the super clean one Erik made available.

The nice thing about pennants that are so far gone...

You can experiment and get creative. Decided to bring this one back to its roots. Navy and gold.

(Thanks Erik for making it available)

Wow!!!!! How many times did you have to soak it? Was this the “dye on the backside” method?

Really nice job. Were the letters on the pennant cracked at all. In my one experiment with dying, I noticed that the dye came through cracks in the letters and graphics. I've probably just done it wrong but maybe it should only be done with graphics that are in better shape than on my attempt.

There is a 1913-14 Christy Mathewson Baseball World Tour Pennant coming up for auction in Heritage with opening bid on 10/28.
No picture yet on it
Any thoughts on it or the history of the "world tour" behind it?

A Christy Mathewson Baseball World Tour Pennant was sold at Christies last year https://www.christies.com/en/lot/lot-6296494

It isn't going to be a cheap auction....that's for sure.

There's a book about the Grand Tour. You can find it on Amazon

Wow that is an incredible looking pennant and the color is so crisp.

Thanks for sharing the LINK and the description gave my some background on the history of it.

I will keep an eye on it but I can see it will not go cheap.

I doubt you did it wrong, Gary. If the paint is cracked, the dye is gonna come through.

Very minor cracking and the fabric had faded almost completely white so it was like starting with a clean slate. I actually mixed green dye first and while testing the color on an old towel, the lightbulb came on and I switched to Navy. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Yes Rob...Just sprayed it from the back. The whole process took about 45 minutes or so. I think I saturated it four times, checking progress every 10 minutes or so. This one was easy.
