I much prefer the eye appeal of the SGC card. I'm just wondering if whoever bought this is thinking this is a candidate for crossing to PSA and doubling his money?
Obviously an expensive gamble and you'd be crazy not to put a minimum of PSA 8 in a crossover attempt. What are the chances this card was already reviewed by PSA and it didn't get an 8? I often wonder how many SGC graded cards didn't get the PSA grade somebody wanted so they got sent to SGC for a "second opinion". I'm not saying this card isn't deserving of an 8, I'm saying how many SCG high grade cards didn't get the result from PSA first and then ended up in a SGC holder? That's why I think the market "devalues" SGC in the same grade. Not that it's not deserving but that PSA didn't feel it was worthy otherwise it'd be in a PSA holder. Collectors enjoy seeing their collection worth more even if they're not planning on selling. Last edited by 1954 topps; 08-16-2021 at 04:38 PM. |

The back of the cards, in case people were interested in that type of thing.

I always do the 'ignore' approach. There are two cards being compared, but the reality is you're only going to buy one of them (whether it's these second mortgage Jackies or something else), so I'll look at the price tag and examine the individual card to see if the asking price is worth it. When a card sits alone without a doppleganger directly beside it, 99.999% of the 'issues' brought up here wouldn't be readily apparent. It's only the comparison that makes the spotlight burn brightly on them.

I preferred the card on the left. I'm guessing that if you swapped the holders, the results would have been the same.
