That’s a crazy amount given all that’s missing from it. Not making me feel optimistic about getting a Dodgers or Red Sox should another appear ….

Default Epic Pennant Being Auctioned

I hate to out an auction, but this one is so extraordinary and I know so many here would be interested in bidding...that it just seems too selfish to stay quiet about it. Good luck all.

Recent pick-up. Yes, it is very faded from the original blue, and looks like someone ripped it from the wall, damaging the tip to where it is literally hanging on by a thread. Since it had the elusive 1955 year and "World Series Champs" printed on it, I would have expected it to be quite popular in Brooklyn, despite the plain graphics. But the only other one I have seen was in an ITPC auction years ago, and that one originated from Walter Alston's estate.

Then Kyle visited Dodger Stadium and his eagle eyes spotted this photo of the Dodgers promoting a new stadium in Brooklyn, with this pennant flying proudly above. Always nice seeing these pennants in photos. Thanks Kyle.

Great find!

Maybe you could remove that redundant 3rd tassel, and use the material to do that knitting/weaving procedure, to strengthen/rebuild the torn tip. You'll never find a better material match. I forget what the procedure is actually called, but someone here will remember, as it wasn't long ago that we discussed the YouTube video ("Felting Needles" or something like that )

Then again, if it's a cloth pennant.... nevermind I think that procedure works only for true felt.

Good thought Mark, but yes, it is cloth. I would probably screw it up trying to repair it. The tip is all there, just half-way ripped off. It looks ok for display purposes.

Think that will reach four figures?

counting what's after the decimal point? I do not.

Two figures (with shipping and tax) is a distinct possibility.

Great pennant Rick. Haven’t seen that one before. Love the photo to go with.

It seems like WGN was a very big player in the 1940s. The new acquisition is at top, which resembles the font on other known WGNs. I think we can conclude that the Robinson-Paige-Doby pennants are WGN. They all have the characteristic of thin tassels of same color and texture as the body of the pennant, and many of these have the spray-painted look.

Kyle, what do you think?
